This fall, iPhones will get the newest software from Apple, and it will bring a lot of exciting upgrades. At its WWDC event on June 5, Apple provided a glimpse of iPhone iOS 17, stressing that not all iPhone customers would have access to it when it became available for download this fall. Several iPhones, including the 2017 iPhone X, must be include, as with all significant Apple software updates.
 
You can quickly determine which iPhone you have by checking your settings if you need clarification. Go to General > About in the Settings app. You may see which iPhone you own by clicking on Model Name.

What happens if your iPhone isn’t listed as compatible?

 
You will only receive a prompt to download the most recent software if your iPhone is among those listed above because it doesn’t support iOS 17. For instance, iOS 16 is the most recent software version that can be use on an iPhone X or older.
