Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
Since the beginning, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” marketing has hinted at a coming “darkness.” They only knew who this vague threat was when the second trailer for the movie came out on April 27, 2023. It was Colman Domingo who gave Unicron his voice. Unicron is a metal planet that eats other planets and changes into a giant mechanical monster. It is like the Death Star and Galactus rolled into one. He has call many foul names, like the Bringer of Chaos, the Planet Eater, and the Lord of the Undead.
Transformers” films
Unicron has been in other “Transformers” films before. In 1986, he appeared as the bad guy in “The Transformers: The Movie,” a spin-off of the original show. Orson Welles gave him a voice. The bigger size of the movie called for a more dangerous lousy guy than the Decepticons. Since that movie is the starting point for “Transformers.” For better or worse, Unicron is the main bad guy in the series.

Transformers” movie, “The Last Knight.”
Unicron was also in Michael Bay’s last live-action “Transformers” movie, “The Last Knight.” In the show “Transformers: Prime,” Unicron was the center of Earth while he was sleeping. Then he started to wake up. Since the “Transformers” pictures have been “rebooted” in some ways, we’ll never see the end of that story. In fact, “Rise of the Beasts” takes a more traditional approach to Unicron. He’s not connected to Earth. His design (at least in planet mode) is a remake of the classic one from 1986. And he has normal-sized Transformers acting as “heralds” to do his work.
Steven Caple Jr., who directed “Rise of the Beasts,” has said. He doesn’t think this will be Unicron’s last time on the big screen.
The past will eat up the future.
Paramount Movies
Caple told Den of Geek that the 1986 movie “Transformers” was the first time he saw the series. He was born in 1988, so he was too young to see the movie when it first came out, but it was the right age to find it on tape. Because of this, it makes sense that Caple is in charge of bringing Unicron to life. He told them:
“They wanted Unicron to be in a live-action movie. And have to be honest and say that I want him to be a huge bad guy in the next two or three movies.”
Caple has also said that he wants to bring back Megatron. He wants to do what he did in the 1986 movie. And have Unicron turn the head of the Decepticons into his servant Galvatron.
Even though Caple has ideas for a sequel, he has yet to agree to make one. Whether he does will likely rest on how well the first movie does at the box office. Even “Bumblebee” director Travis Knight had plans for a sequel that didn’t work out. What Paramount is doing here is pretty straightforward, even without Caple’s words. They want Unicron to be there. Thanos because they want to follow in the footsteps of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Let’s set the scene: an alien with horns wants a magic MacGuffin to open a portal and bring destruction to Earth. The heroes need to work together to stop this. Are “The Avengers,” “Justice League,” or “Rise of the Beasts” in mind? Trick question, all three are correct. Scourge (Peter Dinklage), a messenger for Unicron, joins. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and (Ciaran Hinds) make up the “harbinger of a greater evil” trio. Time will tell if Unicron’s story ends like Thanos’ or if he is stuck in limbo like Darkseid.
